The Big Dog parade - a local favorite, and another excuse for a festival

It's nice to have Amtrak service right at our door. The trips through
the mountains to Seattle and along the coast to San Diego are beautiful,
and relaxing compared to driving. |

On our way to a hair appointment for Ellen, happened on a small gallery
where some works by friend Jack Mohr were displayed. |

We purchased this one, for a "perfect" wall spot. |

Refugio beach in the sunshine. We were scouting a start and end point
for a kayak trip along the coast. |

And here's El Capitan beach, the kayak destination. A good place to
find mussels on the rocks in season; we've had some parties with amazing
amounts of fresh-steamed mussels! |

There are some birds in the distance, hovering over a large pod of
dolphin,
in a feeding frenzy. One dolphin can be seen leaping into the school of
fish the pod has "herded" into a small area. Amazing to watch. |

Ellen fell in love with these critters, which are made by a Santa Barbara-area
artist. We see him on weekends at the arts/crafts sidewalk tent sale at
the beach. |

One of our Perfume Delight roses; just trying out photo opportunities
-- maybe will enter a slide in the American Rose Society contest! The gardener
promises to graft a rose just for us; he has beautiful bushes growing at
Bob's office building. |
